Team roles and permissions
Owner, Manager, Technician and Viewer — who can see what, who can act, and how to invite someone.
A shop has four roles, and they nest: Owner can do everything a Manager can, a Manager everything a Technician can, and a Technician everything a Viewer can. What someone can do and what they can see are the same list — menu entries a role cannot use are not shown to them at all.
The four roles
| Role | Can | Cannot |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including billing, withdrawing money and transferring ownership. | Nothing. There is exactly one owner. |
| Manager | Run the shop day to day: Rate Cards, Equipment, Materials, the storefront, RFQs, orders, the floor, and inviting people. | Billing, and requesting a withdrawal. |
| Technician | Work the Production Floor — see machines, take work, confirm runs good or bad, hold a machine — and see RFQs and orders. | Change prices, equipment, materials or the storefront, or see the shop's money. |
| Viewer | Look. Useful for an accountant, a client or someone being trained. | Change anything, including completing an operation on the floor. |
Inviting someone
From Team, invite by email and choose Manager, Technician or Viewer. They get a link, and until they use it the invitation sits as pending — you can resend it or revoke it from the same page. An invitation that has expired can be resent to issue a fresh link.
Owner is not on the invite list, because it is not something you hand out — it is transferred from the current owner to an existing member.
Who did what
The Team page keeps a history of role changes, invitations and removals, visible to owners and managers. It is the first place to look when something changed and nobody remembers changing it.
In short
Owner for the person who owns the business, Manager for whoever runs it, Technician for the floor, Viewer for everyone else. Give the smallest role that lets someone do their job — you can always raise it. Next: data security and your IP.
