Yantra Bhavan vs OctoFarm

OctoFarm stopped in 2022. Here is what to move to, and when not to.

The fleet dashboard that sat on top of OctoPrint — and stopped being maintained in 2022.

The short version

OctoFarm answered the OctoPrint problem exactly: one screen for every instance, with file management and grouped controls across the farm.

It is no longer maintained. The project has publicly sought new maintainers and its last release was in October 2022.

If you are here because your OctoFarm install is drifting, the question is what replaces it — and that depends on whether your floor is only printers.

A dashboard is not a scheduler

OctoFarm showed you every printer at once, which is the first thing a growing farm needs and a real improvement over a bookmark per machine. It did not decide anything: what runs next was still yours to work out. Production Floor’s dispatcher assigns work to a unit by capability and load and can release the next job once a part is cleared — and it does that across processes, not only across printers.

Being unmaintained is a fact worth stating plainly

We are not citing this to score a point. An unmaintained tool between you and your machines is an operational risk with a date on it — the next OctoPrint change that breaks the API is the one nobody fixes. If you are still running it, the honest advice is to move, whether that is to us, to SimplyPrint, or back to OctoPrint on its own.

Pick Yantra Bhavan when

You want something that is being worked on, one queue rather than one dashboard, and machines beyond printers in it.

Pick OctoFarm when

It is free, self-hosted and open source, and if you have a working install on a stable OctoPrint version it still does the job it always did. Nothing we offer can be run on your own hardware.
